Blue Gavel Regatta Hosted By Westlake Yacht Club

The Blue Gavel Regatta is being hosted on 23rd September by one the renowned clubs named Westlake Yacht Club. The first race is set for 1 pm and there would be 3 to 4 races with an intention to complete the course around 4 pm. Trophies will be given after the race to the winners and arrangement for lunch and beverages would be done for the participants.

The course is fixed in “main channel” part of the lake and the same can be accessed on the website of the Yacht club. The registration desk will have the race course map for people to view.

The check in and registration will start from 10.30 am until 12 pm. As far as the junior yacht club sailors are concerned, they would assemble from 11 am followed by meeting with the skippers at 12 30 pm. For entry, races should be yacht club members or a part of sailing association in affiliation with the Southern California Yachting Association. Or, one has to be a member with US Sailing Association. The race classes include RS Tera, Sabot, Opti, Catalina 18, Capri 14.2, and Laser. There will be 2 entries formed and dinghy fleets are also qualified.

Due to the recent intrusion of zebra mussel in California lakes, the club has instructed people who carry their own boat for the match race should notify the Rear Commodore within 24 hours of starting the race.

Besides, the boat should be placed at the launch ramp in the morning by 10 am for an inspection. The boats which don’t reach in time will not be allowed to take part in the race.
