Edison Sailing Club Back On Water

After close to 8 weeks of remaining dry, the students of the Edison Sailing Club were on the water in North Fort Myers last week. One of the famous sailors named Charlie Suroski said he was quite excited to take part in sailing and could not wait to be on the water.

Suroski is a part of the club for 7 years and it’s been two and a half years that he has begun racing. He said he may not be the best, but certainly holds 4th place out of 83. When the competition took place, he along with other members was too excited to be back on their boats and meet friends.

The Edison Sailing Centre was formed by Stephanie Webb along with her husband. The last few months were a bit hard for the couple, both emotionally and financially. The greatest disappointment; however was that they rarely got an opportunity to meet the kids.

As far as Saturday’s event is concerned, it felt as though it was brand new year and the couple almost wished happy New Year to the kids as they entered. As per the Three Fishermen Seafood Restaurant’s manager Carrie Keim, it was a great feeling to see the kids sail on water. It gave her hopes and dreams and she was happier. She said that the feeling could not be expressed in words, but she was elated to see the boats and sailors out there and knowing that her kids were also a part of the big event. Due to water quality concerns, her restaurant is going through a rough phase, but she is hopeful to see a better tomorrow.

These businesses may take some time to shape up like before, but post the event, there is a ray of hope that the future will soon be bright. Keim said that things are already moving in a positive direction after the event.
