10 Ways How To Make Money As A Kid

10 Ways How To Make Money As A Kid

There are many ways how to make money as a kid. However until you’re 14 your limited from taking a job at an “official place” of work. When I was younger how kids make money was to do the following:

1) Lemonade or cookie stand
2) Participate in school fundraisers (which in turn we would get free toys, not money but even better)
3) Raking leaves in the neighbors’ yards. (I would do it without them asking and then they would pay me anyway. I guess it was because they felt guilty since I already did the work.
4) Collect cans from the neighbors houses and take them into the recycling center. In Iowa we got 5 cents a can, but in Michigan they get 10 cents
5) You can mow lawns
6) You can shovel snow
7) Any/all cleaning needs of neighbors

That’s a quick little list of ways how to make money for kids under 14. The rest of the list are ways how kids can make money working a “real job” and get paychecks and tips.

 Work at a supermarket
9) Bus Tables
10) Work Retail

The day I turned 14 I got a job at a Retail Golf Store and I cleaned the whole place as well as working in the repair shop, putting on new grips for clubs, re-shafting clubs and building clubs for people. That job paid well and I worked it for 4 years. I wanted to get a job at the supermarket but I applied at the golf store for fun as well and got lucky with a little persistence. Two years later at 16 I took a job bussing tables are a restaurant. Man I worked so much in high school. Here was my work schedule

Mon - 5-9 at the Golf Shop
Tues - 5-10 at the Restaurant
Wed - Off
Thur - 5-9 at the Golf Shop
Fri - 5-11 at the Restaurant
Sat 9-5 Golf Shop/ 5-11 Restaurant
Sun 9-5 Golf Shop/ 5-9 Restaurant

It was a lot of work but I graduated High School in 15,000 cash. Now go out there and go get it.

First My Server And Now My Computer???

What’s up everyone, this post today is coming to you live from the Durango Public Library. I woke up this morning and my computer would not turn on. I went to the a computer service store and all they could tell me is “noone is home, might be the mothe board. Did you buy this here? No? Ok here is Dell number.” I bought this computer last August and it’s already messed up. But hey what can you do. I feel that you have to accept everything that happens to you as an external thing and you CAN NOT let it effect you soul. OK, enough hippy stuff, but I do live in a hippie mountain town and it does make sense. So Dell is supposed to be sending me a box and I have to remove my battery and hard drive and send it in. I’ll be giving some feedback on Dell’s customer service.

I have a 30 minute time limit, so I’m going to cut this short and go play in the comments. I’ll also try to shape up my internet marketing post so I can have it ready by tommorow. Later

How is everyone doing? I hope you all are having a great day and don’t forget to call your mom’s. My camera isn’t working and I’m not sure what happened to it. I’ll buy a new camera when I get back to town. My next post will be made on the 14th of May.

Trip update: Florida is amazing.

1) The first day we got faded on the beach in the morning. Next we took a nap and then out to the bars

2) The second day we just took it easy. We watched TV and went to my buddy and his girlfriends work

3) The third day we woke early (6 am) and got on a boat that took us down to Key West. We got off the boat and went directly to Duval Street (Main Drag) and ate some lunch and started drinking. Then we went and chilled by the pool and then took a nap. Then it was on, it was the night before my birthday so we went out hard. There are so many fun bars in Key West and there are so many amazing girls.

4) Yesterday we went to the beach on Key West and the water was greenish blue, absolutely beautiful.

5) Today (Sunday) up early and wrote this post and going to the beach

6) Tomorrow - deep sea fishing with Kelly’s Dad

7) 13th - Travel

I see you all on the 14th

Post from: Make Money Online

This Email Is Insane

“I’ve been blogging for a whole three weeks and I have no idea why I’m not making any money. I’ve updated my blog 3 times per week with fresh content, and it still isn’t bringing in new visitors. I’ve read your e-book and I’ve tried all that you teach, but I still make nothing. Help me!” –Anonymous Emailer

Ok… first of all, I enjoy interacting with people, so I have no problems answering questions via email. But if you are going to email me… do your homework first. If it’s something that my blog can answer, I’m just going to point you to the link. I spend a lot of time answering legitimate questions, and then I occasionally get emails like this one. I’m at a loss for words! I must say though, I’m glad that he stressed he’d been blogging for a “whole” 3 weeks… that definitely added comedic value.

I’ve got serious problems with email like this. Let’s break down my concerns… and my thoughts of why this person will never make a dime, unless he starts putting in the study time.

It’s a vague question. He’s basically asking for me to show him how to make money online. I will never respond (or the response will be vague) when I get questions like this. I mean honestly, do you expect me to write a 70 page email to explain JUST A FEW of the ways that you can make money blogging? In case you guys missed it, I poured my heart out in my free e-book - Bigshot Blogging. It should answer these basic questions. Any of you that have read it want to weigh in here? Speaking of the ebook, this leads me to my second point.

He claims to have read my book. I know for a fact that he hasn’t, so why lie about it? I’d still help you even if you hadn’t said that you’d read my ebook. How did I know that he didn’t read it? Bigshot Blogging stresses, that early on you may want to increase your posting frequency in order to provide enough content to actually “launch” your blog (he stated that he posts 3 times per week). It also states that blogging is a marathon… not a sprint. For him to be expecting to earn more than a few dollars after 3 weeks as a NEW blogger… it’s ludicrous. Also, why would I go into great detail about how to build traffic in the ebook, when it’s obvious this guy thinks that if he writes content, traffic will come. This isn’t “Field of Dreams”. Building it doesn’t necessarily mean that they will come.

He addresses me as “One Man’s Goal Guy” in the subject line of the email. I’m pretty sure that most of you here know my real name. Also, how could you miss it in the ebook? It’s everywhere! That alone almost got his email sent to the spam filter. I get way too many emails to try and figure out which ones are spam, and which aren’t.

He didn’t leave a name, and he used a “disposable” email address. His email address wasn’t a website, or blog email address, it was a Yahoo address. This is fine, I use a free email service myself (Gmail), but I have no idea who you are… so I can’t check out your blog and try to find any potential problems. I’ve helped a lot of you with this… I like to visit blogs and point out problem areas. It’s what I do.

And my biggest issue with this email is this… HE WANTS A HANDOUT. I don’t mind helping others. I do it quite often, and by my own free will. But I don’t like being asked how to do something when there are so many other sources that will lead you to the answer. I’ve got a “search” bar on my blog for a reason… use it! And I didn’t just write a 70 page ebook, and then give it away free… because I like to write. It was supposed to be a training manual of sorts. Don’t ask me questions that I’ve already provided the answer to.

Did I miss anything? Anybody else have any comments?

For those of you that know me, you should know that it takes an awful lot to get me to write a negative article about another blogger. Well mission accomplished Vic!

I recently ran across an article on Problogger that caught my attention. It’s titled - “Dropping the F-Bomb: Blogging with Naughty Words“. This article caught my attention because there are more and more foul-mouthed, and “jerk blogs” popping up daily. While this may be a business model that gains you shock appeal for the time being, is it really a profitable business model?

Let’s take Vic from BloggerUnleashed (due to my disdain for this jerk, nofollow was used). This guy is quite possibly one of the biggest jerks in this category. I understand that being controversial is a great way to garner short term attention, but insulting major bloggers that you share a niche with - Darren Rowse, John Chow, Yaro Starak and more, is not really the route to go for long term success. If you really want attention, just tell the world that Shoemoney Is An A-hole - Did that get your attention Shoe? By the way, I should clarify that I don’t really think that he’s an A-hole, and I read his blog daily. It’s just a way of proving a point.

Blogging for long term success is all about your ability to build relationships. I’ve interacted at one time or another with all of these guys, and they are all very helpful, courteous, and respond rather promptly. So what is his issue? He’s a JERK. It’s that easy.

So he can’t interact with the A-listers so he takes refuge in the fact that his mindless drones will hang on his every keystroke. Too bad you can’t read his content because it’s written like a dyslexic 3rd grader. I haven’t seen so many typo’s, grammatical errors, and misspellings since I worked as a bartender and watched drunk people fill out comment cards on their experience.

Why do I dislike Vic? He’s a jerk. Let’s take a look at a screenshot from StumbleUpon. You can see it here. Or there are the two negative articles that he took the time to apparently type with no fingers, which would explain the poor writing. You can see those here and here. Or you can consider the fact that he flat out insults other bloggers, such as Caroline Middlebrook, who is a wonderful blogger. I think he forgets sometimes that some people might be new to this. Instead of ripping them for trying, why not point them in the right direction?

“Success isn’t measured in dollars you earn, but in the quality of your life and the people in it. The truly successful will always be the first people to point you in the right direction. The unsuccessful will appear successful at first, but the true indicator is in their ability to offer encouragement, and positive reinforcement.” –David Shields

I try not to burn bridges, be polite, and help anyone that I can… but this guy is just past salvation.

That’s all I have to say about it. He can continue to be 1/2 a step up from a spammer all he wants… this will be the last you hear of him on my blog.

It feels nice to vent!

Surprise! It Feels Good To Be Home

Well, let me preface this entire post by saying that this is Bryan Clark (the original owner) writing. I told all of you that I had a surprise for you, and I wasn’t kidding. This one even surprised me a little. If you read Austin’s previous post, then you probably were aware that something was about to happen… well, it happened!

So What Am I Doing Here?

Well, I noticed that Austin hadn’t been posting all that frequently, and having regular contact with him I knew that he was a VERY busy guy - running his own business, online endeavors, etc. So I decided to take a book out of Austin’s playbook about buying websites direct, and it went something like this.

Austin, you seem to be pretty busy lately. What do you think about selling One Man’s Goal back to me, so that you can clear that from your plate and focus on what has been profitable for you?

Well, I said it fully expecting a resounding NO WAY to be the answer. But to my surprise, Austin was interested in working a deal. So we did! Now, Austin, and myself both agreed not to disclose the exact purchase price, or some other inner workings, but I can tell you this… due to Austin’s lack of time, and my drive to spend cash before it burns a hole in my pocket - I was able to get One Man’s Goal back at a discounted price, in exchange for some “consulting” work that I’ll be doing for Austin in the future (details on that aren’t available either… sorry).

So, I bought back One Man’s Goal, which makes me happy. Austin has one less thing on his plate, which makes him happy. I got a discount (I’m happy), Austin gets some free labor out of me (he’s happy). Everyone wins in this deal. Now as long as YOU are happy, we can all continue living in the happy place which is known as One Man’s Goal.

I have quite a few ideas that I’m interested in implementing, and I’ll be churning out more useful information than ever. I can’t wait to resume work here… but, I want to take a second to thank Austin for the work he has done, and being kind enough to give me a good deal on the re-purchase of One Man’s Goal. I wish you lots of luck buddy, and I hope that when we both unlock “millionaire” status, we can hit up a vacation!

Sound off! What do you think about this transaction? Was it wise for me to buy One Man’s Goal back at a discount? Was it wise for Austin to sell? What do you think? I’m curious, so indulge me! Oh, and one more thing - during the next few days the site might be offline for up to 24 hours while we transfer the domain and the database back to me. So don’t fret, I’m not going anywhere… it’s a necessary evil!

And in case you were wondering why Austin’s face is still in the sidebar, he still technically owns the site. The payment is complete, and both sides are content… but we are waiting for the nice people at Escrow.Com to complete the transaction so he can release the domain and database to me. So until then, he was gracious enough to create a user account for me on here so that I can still post.

Not to be overly dramatic, but if OneMansGoal.com was a fine sportscar, I’d be grinding its gears.

I’ve known for a while that the past owner did a better job creating traffic, and then monetizing the traffic he received. He also seemlingly had more time to research his posts, because many of the posts written were more than just cute stories or analogies, and did require research. This is time that I simply don’t have. These are traffic creation tools that I’m either not aware of or using.

Between having a successful full time job, and time with the family, I don’t have much time to devote to outside projects. What limited time that I do have I try to put it to its highest and best use. I don’t want to spend the limited time I have grinding gears. Likewise, a person can quickly become attached to something that they help create (even after just a few posts). I want what’s best for this site.

With the convention season starting, and our third daughter due on February 6th, it’s time to admit that OneMansGoal.com is too much car for me to handle, and that I’m not up to speed on blog marketing.

Again, not to be dramatic, but it’s time to give the keys to someone that knows what they’re doing.

More information to follow shortly, - Austin.
