5 Great Affiliate Programs
For Your Blog

Banging your head on the desk because your blog has only made 34 cents this week with Adsense? I’ve got a better way to make money for you! Affiliate programs are true MONEYMAKERS!

PPC advertising isn’t a great means of income for the new blogger. It’s a start, but the 22 cents a day you might earn starting out definitely doesn’t pay the bills. What if I told you that there was a better way? There is! I’m here to break down the top 5 affiliate programs for bloggers. Nothing on this list is a hard sell. It’s products that new bloggers would BEG for if they knew the benefits, or it might just be something that you need!

Text Link Ads1. TEXT LINK ADS - I don’t know if my vocabulary is expansive enough to tell you about all of the benefits of Text Link Ads (TLA). Simply click on the banner and go sign up for a publishers account. This does 2 things for you. One, it allows the genius’s over at Text Link Ads to go out and find advertisers willing to PAY YOU for an advertising spot on your site. This may take a while. You have to build up a decent amount of traffic and they prefer sites with a Google PageRank. But, all you have to do is copy and paste the code, and when you get busy enough… they’ll alert you when someone wants to advertise! The second way to earn a Text Link Ads fortune is to sign up for their affiliate program (through my banner of course!). Simply put a banner or text link on your site, and every time someone signs up for the service. You get $25 bucks. You know the best part? Signing up for the service is absolutely free!!!

2. AMAZON - This affiliate program is extraordinary. I just came across it recently but I think it will be a huge revenue generator. It works like this. You are writing an article about this great new book you read. Wouldn’t it be great if, after your detailed explanation, people just HAD to go buy it? Wouldn’t it be even better if you profited from it if they did? YOU CAN! Sign up for the Amazon associates program and you can display anything that they sell on your website. And earn a commission anytime someone buys it by clicking on the ad! How fantastic is that? They sell cd’s, dvd’s, books, furniture, computers, tv’s, cell phones… Anything you can imagine… They have it! And you get paid up to 10% of the price it was purchased for. WIN-WIN!

3. GOAL UNIVERSITY - Let’s be honest with ourselves for a minute. We all have goals. How many New Years Resolutions have you EVER followed through on? Yeah, meGoal University - The Launching Pad for Your Dreams neither. What if I told you that all it took was a great coach to make sure that you achieved all that you wanted and more? If Earl Woods hadn’t coached Tiger do you think Tiger would have his face plastered all over video games? If Archie Manning hadn’t coached Peyton at an early age do you think that he would have just won a Superbowl? I doubt it. Why is your goal any less important? You NEED coaching to achieve your dreams. It’s no longer an option… it’s a necessity! For only $27 a month Jill Koenig will walk you through HOW to achieve your goal. On top of this, they offer an affiliate program. It is a two tiered system that leads to some BIG profits. Tier 1 (any affiliate that you sign up) you get 40% as a commission on anything they buy. Tier 2 (any affiliate your friend signs up) you get 10% commission on anything they buy. This includes their monthly membership to the program. You know what that means? Residual income, as long as they remain a member. You profit! Passive income is SWEET income!

4. YARO STARAK’S BLOG PROFITS BLUEPRINT - This was a no brainer for me. I already have a lot of respect for Yaro and his blog Entrepreneurs-Journey.Com so I decided tClick here to get The Blog Profits Blueprinto give this one a try. This is a FREE 50 page e-book from Yaro himself. The e-book gives out some valuable information about monetizing your blog, promotion, and blogging in general. It also sets you up for future earnings. Whenever one of your readers downloads this FREE e-Book and then decides to give Yaro’s “Blog Mastermind” program a try… you get paid $20. The best part is that you get paid as long as they sign up within 3 months of reading it. So you get to give out a free e-Book with TONS of great information, and if they decide to take the next step towards being a blog bigshot, you get paid! Now that’s an affiliate program I could grow to love. On top of all that the $20 is a recurring payment, so as long as they are in the program… You get paid. 5. GO DADDY - To sign up create an account by going to GoDaddy.Com and finding the “affiliate” link at the bottom of the page. You are paid up to $105 for a one year hosting contract, and you get a 20% commission for any purchases that the person you referred makes. hi, in my music-blog you asked me how i found “odiogo”. i found it on shadowscope.com
he helped me to put it on my blog. it´s quite difficult but in the end i managed to fix it.
yeah, it´s very cool. it takes a bit to load the “listen now” button and also a bit for the text to be generated an audio-file but once it´s finished it´s fun. do you want to put into your blog too?
let me know if you do so and if you need some help

    Hi Bryan,
Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment. I like your blog and wish you the best of luck with your goal. I’ll subscribe to keep up with you :)

Nice list. Don’t forget Pay Per Post. Their program is easier to get into then TLA and the blogger has a better chance of getting work since the blogger chooses instead of the advertiser.

BeachBum - This list was geared towards newer bloggers. I wanted the easiest ways for them to generate a little revenue. PPP is great, but you really need to be a bit more established to earn a “good” revenue stream from them.

Great list there. I like how Blog Mastermind pays every month as long as your referrals are still in the program.

I had heard that Amazon wasn’t that great. It wasn’t the reason I stayed away, but it played a part in that decision.

  11. By Bryan on Aug 7, 2007 | Reply

coolio - I’ve heard completely the opposite. I heard that it didn’t PAY that great… but that it’s a valuable tool (too bad I can’t get it’s coding to work on my blog). The reason I suggested that one is because for new bloggers it’s valuable. They pay you in increments of $10 and it generally takes you some time to get payed using other programs. Like Adsense for example, still waiting to hit that magical $100 mark ;)

Thanks for the mention Bryan - it’s creepy how close your name is to the other famous blogger Brian.

I hope your readers enjoy my free book - it’s received very good reviews and I’m considering re-releasing a new version but not for free this time. People have told me I should have charged for the info.

The affiliate program is great too, one member is nearing $800 per month recursive income just from my program, so you can make good money. Of course that’s not a typical result, but even an extra $20 a month ongoing is helpful.

    Thanks again!

    Yaro

Yaro Starak himself. :D Thanks for the helpful info about your affiliate program!

I liked this list, but not sure about Amazon. I’ve used it in the past and for me it wasn’t a great converter. I do want to try TLA though…I’ve been approved, but haven’t added their code to my site yet because I wanted to improve my Page Rank first. Let’s see what the next Google dance has in store :>)
Thanks for the great content and ideas.

    -ADMIN EDIT-
Steve - Thanks for the comment but it’s not appropriate to post your own affiliate banners on my site. If you must post a link to an affiliate program, do it in the URL section.

Excellent post Bryan, lots of great money making ideas! Yaro’s looks like a very good one (and I wouldn’t mind getting a little info on blog building), I also am looking into using Amazon Affiliates.

Also thanks for the comment, of course I signed up through your link, your the one who got me hooked! I’m just waiting for my site to grow a little bit here and hopefully TLA will start to do wonder’s for me.

Some more great ideas. Once again, I can’t wait to implement them on my site.

If I were to add a few to the list, I’d say Commission Junction, Chitika, and Kontera.

I would have to say between the big 3 blogs my husband & I run, we have been successful with the same 3 affiliate programs. Adsense, Amazon.com, and Commission Junction. On Gartner Web Dev we run different Commision Junction ads, then on my vintage site One of a Kind Wisconsin. I have been doing pretty good by using eBay affiliates through Commission Junction, but I attribute that to being an eBay seller anyway and selling vintage. I like Amazon’s 6% of sales- but their contextual links are terrible, they come up with some real dogs. It (Amazon) works better we have found out if you are very targeted about what you are placing and specify products. -Michelle

Huh. I’ve been on godaddy hosting for months and I didn’t realize they had an affiliate program. Sounds like a good deal. I’ve been pretty happy with their service and their prices are stupidly good.

You forgot the best affiliate program ever, ebay.

7-day cookies for anyone who clicks on the links. And *everybody* buys stuff on eBay. Plus $25 for new active user signups.

Thanks for the affiliate advice. I keep hearing about text link ads. I guess I’ll have to take a look. I’ve had some good luck with Indeed.com. Everyone wants a job!

    This post is really informative.

I have just signed up for TLA. Now I am thinking of signing up with Amazon and buying my domain at GoDaddy. :)

Great post, passive income would be truly awesome. Do you ever use any of the affiliate networks you find, which try to link you up with affiliate advertisers?

  24. By Bryan on Aug 10, 2007 | Reply

Michael - Which networks are you speaking of?

The $10 payout on Amazon is definitely an incentive to join and try to promote Amazon. I’ve been a member for awhile, but haven’t used them, yet. I’ll take another look at them again.

Also another good easy money maker is the Affiliate Classroom. Google it.

Hmm, I prefer namecheap over Godaddy but namecheap doesn’t have a affiliate program

I think you took a wrong turn on this particular one.

I don’t want to slam ya too hard since you are doing so well with your blog :). But you are making a rookie mistake on this particular one…

Take a look at the affiliate check posted on Aug 6 on The New Self (my personal blog).

I found an in demand product/service with a good payout per sale that is not heavily promoted or saturated and with which I found some prime keywords that I felt I could rank for. I setup a site in December 2006 and put about 3 to 4 hours a month into it from December through April.

I collected $1,000 last month in affiliate commissions from that site. I have $700 in earnings this month on the 16th (tracking for about a $1,100 - 1,200/mo hopefully).

I bet someone will come along and say something like “if I had your traffic I could make $1,000 too” but guess what, I had only 10 unique visitors to the site yesterday. But the visitors I get are so highly targeted that they convert. You want to hear something even more sickening. I made the $700 in commissions so far with only 29 clicks out to the affiliate link.

I haven’t spent a dime on PPC. I did spend a total of about $40 for various services which helped me to establish some authority. I haven’t touched the site since May. I could probably tripple that if I put 4 hours a week for a few months into it (just haven’t had the time and am alotting it to other projects right now).

It’s not about picking the 5 biggest/best programs. It’s about finding the diamond in the rough. Read through my comment again entirely from start to finish. I gave you the entire formula here :)

I’ve got an Amazon gift certificate burning holes in my pocket,
and I want to get the most bang for my buck.

Enter the Secret Amazon Web Pages:

    tinyurl.com/38sojf

This is where you’re going to find the “latest sales, rebates, and limited-time offers” from
Amazon, and you can score some pretty deep discounts if you’re a savvy shopper.

Next, there’s the special Sale link. This is open every Friday, and ONLY on Fridays.

You can find the same good discounts here as you would in hidden Deals, although some
Fridays you can really get lucky and make off like an Amazon bandit - I’ve seen discounts
there as low as 75% off sticker price.
