Monthly Update - Month 1
(June 28 - July 28)
By Bryan Clark on Jul 29, 2007 in Uncategorized
Yesterday was July 28th which marks the one month anniversary of One Man’s Goal. It seems like yesterday that I started a blog just to document my goal. It’s been an eventful month. Using the same techniques I teach others, I was able to hold my head high after a pretty good first month.
-Highlights-
- Having my article linked to on ProBlogger.Net. Darren is the real deal, and someone that most of us admire and look up to. Being able to write an article that was deemed worthy of his blog… was quite an accomplishment.
- Meeting some great people - This month I met some wonderful people that really gave me some much needed guidance as I moved forward. I’d like to thank Ryan Shamus, Terence Chang, Jill Koenig, and Ben Cope. There were many others, but these four constantly made themselves available to me when I had questions. Without their guidance, I wouldn’t have progressed nearly as fast as I did.
- Building a loyal following - I have 50+ people who visit this blog on a daily basis. Many more visit every few days. Without the support of these people, I would still be a new blog struggling to find someone to read my articles. Through word of mouth, exhausting promotion, and supporters that carry my banner on their site… I was able to build quite a respectable readership for the first month.
- Accumulating backlinks - I managed to accrue somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,000 backlinks. Not bad considering I’ve only owned this domain 3 weeks. Remember, I started my blog at Blogspot, and moved here a week into it.

-Traffic-
Traffic all in all was pretty good for the first month. I did a lot of promotion and got a lot of targeted traffic sent my way by friends in the blogging community. Hopefully it continues to improve.
The traffic isn’t completely accurate because I didn’t get statcounter installed until July 5th. Even after it was installed I had it installed in the wrong place for a couple of weeks which didn’t log ALL of my page loads (but it got most of them). It’s in the right place now and configured correctly, so next month will be completely accurate.
Pageloads - 6,838
Unique Visitors - 2,473
Pretty decent numbers for the first month (I think). In my estimation the pageloads are closer to the neighborhood of 7,500. Had the statcounter been installed, and working correctly we’d know for sure…. NEXT MONTH!
-Sweet Revenue-

Grand Total = $129.64
I wasn’t really sure what to expect when it came to revenue, but I’m pretty certain that this is above average for a new blog. Someone let me know!
-Site Rankings-
Technorati
Authority - 78 Ranking - 70,732 Fans - 45
Alexa
Ranking - 532,035
Feedburner
RSS Subscriptions - 33
-Monthly Stats-

You may need to delete these two tags <h3> and </h3>. The code then looks like this!

Hi, congratulations about that success. I hope I will post better results about my blog when it gets one year old. These days it is hard to be hardworking honest webmaster and little things in life must make us all happy!

Bryan, looks like you are going from strength to strength! Congratulations.
However I have written a disagreeing post:

I was wondering if you’d like to comment about it. (on your blog would be nice)

icedragon - Thanks for the encouragement and the continued support!
mahdi - Thanks! You should definitely do a similar blog post.
Durant - I sure hope so
Terence - Glad I could fill your need of late night (early morning?) reading material!
forex - Thanks for the kind words!
mommibee - Yep. I’m a rookie blogger. Not only have I only owned this blog for a month. I’ve only been blogging for a month!
Contamination - I couldn’t disagree more with your blog post. If you follow my blog you would have noticed that on several occasions I speak of how much I like blogging. Monetizing it to where I can do it full time becomes a win-win. I get to do what I like, and get paid for it!

Only one months work, you have accomplished more than some who have blogged for a year or more.
Good work!

Congratulations on the start. Nice to have some motivation from an early stage. I think that’s the hardest part; getting things off the ground and not losing motivation.

That’s some pretty impressive stuff for a new blog. I have a well matured website and have never reached your kind of stats. Good work.
By Sly from Slyvisions.com on Jul 29, 2007 | Reply
Bryan, those stats show exactly what you (and other new bloggers) are capable of. Keep it up!

Looks like you’re putting the internet in it’s place, Bryan. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a new blog do this well. Congrats to you, good sir. Some quality stuff here.

Your banner doesn’t work on my sites for some reason, Bryan. Are you sure your site is set up for others to use your bandwidth, or something like that?
By Ryan Shamus on Jul 29, 2007 | Reply
Dude, congrats!!!
That kind of money for being a month in is definitely ahead of schedule. You’re kicking ass and chewing bubble gum at the same time!
Next time you head out to Big Bang, I’ll try to catch up with ya!
Keep it up bro!

Thanks for the comments everyone! I appreciate the support.
Jason - The banner should work now. I must have screwed up the code somehow when I was editing. I changed it, should be good to go!

Bryan,
Congrats on your hard work.

Bryan, when I edited the hyphens within my editor it worked. I get that effect sometimes. When I write some code in a document, it doesn’t always translate good to a website regarding hyphens “. I think they’re called hyphens… ? F it…
See ya.

I meant… those things called quotes. Lol… Did some late night blogging last night. Know what I mean?
So you might need to modify the quotes on a notebook document, or anything besides Word and Works.
No problem for the support, bud. Thank you for supporting me.

Hi Bryan,
I’ve seen your name around the interweb but this is my first visit, via Ryan Shamus. Congratulations on your first month, that’s a brilliant start! Very inspiring. I’ve added you to my reader and added your banner.
