The Best Way To Trade Links

Ok, so you have found someone that would like to trade links with you. The two of you would like to trade links located within a post on your blog. Now, you have an old post that you have already written that is directly related to their site. If you add a link to their site from an old post will it get found? Does Google recrawl your old posts once they have indexed them? Would this link do your link partner any good?

Or would it just be better to write a relevent fresh post?

It seems like the link would be more valueable from an older established post. This is assuming that the post is recrawled and the link is found.

    Hi Marc,
I thought more people would have a go at answering this one.
    Anyway, here’s my 2 cents, for what it’s worth…

Assuming you have all in one SEO set up, then you have probably set your front page as priority for crawling, so the older posts will probably not get crawled so frequently.
    But…
If I were linking this way, I would make a new post which at some point made a relevant link to that older post (where my link trade was established), then problem solved I reckon.

But there are smarter people reading this than me (at SEO anyway…), so I would be interested in what they think :)

Hey Christmas, I like your blog :)
Only thing is, it made me realise just how soon it will be here!

    And that is no secret.
All I would add (and should have said) is make sure the anchor text has the relevant keyword/keyword phrase in it.

A link in a old post would probably be stronger, but it seems more natural to simply include the link in the next post to me.

I’ve done this before, if you have a list of sites’ that you ping regularly, you can simply update the post and re ping the sites. Hope that helps.
