10 Ways How To Make Money As A Kid
By Marc on Sep 5, 2008 in Personal
There are many ways how to make money as a kid. However until you’re 14 your limited from taking a job at an “official place” of work. When I was younger how kids make money was to do the following:
1) Lemonade or cookie stand
2) Participate in school fundraisers (which in turn we would get free toys, not money but even better)
3) Raking leaves in the neighbors’ yards. (I would do it without them asking and then they would pay me anyway. I guess it was because they felt guilty since I already did the work.
4) Collect cans from the neighbors houses and take them into the recycling center. In Iowa we got 5 cents a can, but in Michigan they get 10 cents
5) You can mow lawns
6) You can shovel snow
7) Any/all cleaning needs of neighbors
That’s a quick little list of ways how to make money for kids under 14. The rest of the list are ways how kids can make money working a “real job” and get paychecks and tips.
Work at a supermarket
9) Bus Tables
10) Work Retail
The day I turned 14 I got a job at a Retail Golf Store and I cleaned the whole place as well as working in the repair shop, putting on new grips for clubs, re-shafting clubs and building clubs for people. That job paid well and I worked it for 4 years. I wanted to get a job at the supermarket but I applied at the golf store for fun as well and got lucky with a little persistence. Two years later at 16 I took a job bussing tables are a restaurant. Man I worked so much in high school. Here was my work schedule
Mon - 5-9 at the Golf Shop
Tues - 5-10 at the Restaurant
Wed - Off
Thur - 5-9 at the Golf Shop
Fri - 5-11 at the Restaurant
Sat 9-5 Golf Shop/ 5-11 Restaurant
Sun 9-5 Golf Shop/ 5-9 Restaurant
It was a lot of work but I graduated High School in 15,000 cash. Now go out there and go get it. Just don’t forget to learn how to save money as well
