Where The F@*k Have I Been?

Awkward, damn, I have to say that May has officially gone down as my best month ever. Starting off in Florida for a week with my buddy and his girl, the realization that I was only selling Real Estate to make my parents proud, out of control mountain biking and kayaking, a couple for 4-6 day flings with a couple of pretty girls, working the past 9 nights at the restaurant (with 3 to go) closing my last Real Estate deal yesterday, a new website I made that I know has potential but I don’t know how to promote it, the party last night and not having to go into Real Estate today. I guess we’ll see how this goes, right? One suggestion with this video is you “might” want to watch some language if you want to be taken seriously. Good to see you moving forward, but it was kinda hard to take you seriously with some of the things you said. Just my opinion…

Awesome idea! If it were me though, I’d scrap the domain name Youtube Proposal. Go with something more Web 2.0 like flickr, twitter, things like that. Sounds awesome though.

I’m glad you quit your job! Gives you time to focus on stuff that’ll make you real money.

    Good luck buddy :)

Just a quick tip, all the tabs on your new project don’t start with a capital letter, not sure if it was done purposly.

Youtube is actually already moving into advertising on the videos themselves. I’m not sure how many people would be interested in getting a link on descriptions, when you can get one showing up directly on the video. It’s a decent idea, but I think you can’t support your revenue if YouTube takes notice and starts to box you out of profits.

@Joe - thank you for sticking around. I’m sorry if the language offends you, I’ll watch it because it makes me look stupid. As far a being taken seriously, it is not a huge concern of mine. I feel I’ve tried to be to appealing to the audience and at the same time lost my appeal(Jack Johnson -Gone). I’m just going to be me, I’d rather be liked for who I am rather than be loved for something I’m not. Anyway thank you for you comment, you should know I don’t take anything personally so always state your mind.

@Bryan - I like your idea, however when I went to free keyword traker and typed in youtube here are the results

    1) Youtube - 187,122
    2) Adult youtube - 3,310
    3) Youtube mriarian??? - 2,867
    4) Redtube youtube - 2,828
    5) Youtube awards - 2,714
    6) Youtube novela acorralda??? - 1,681
    7) Youtube for adults - 1,246
    8) Youtube proxy - 989
    9) Youtube pranks - 774
    10) Youtube videos - 773
    11) Adult version youtube - 748
    12) Download youtube videos - 564
    13) Youtube downloader - 492
    14) Youtube Proposal - 362

I figured if I could get some of this traffic for this keyword would be nice, even if people are just looking for videos of dudes getting shot down proposing a public events (ie halfcourt basketball game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PsB8HuRLiA

Byran what do you think??? Maybe redirect all the traffic from http://youtubeproposal.com to a web 2.0 name???

@Danny - when I typed them into wordpress it was using capital letters if appeared in lower case. However, now I kinda like it. Anyway, do you know what might be causing the problem???

  7. By Marc on Jun 3, 2008 | Reply

@Jim - this is a very large concern for me. I’m looking at this more as a learning experience that my big break. The reason why an advertiser would rather use my system is that it comes with the personal recomendation of the video creator plus a link.

When the ad scross across the bottom it is easyier to block them out. That being said it depends who the advertiser is. If the advertising is selling something they would probably be better server with the ads in the videos.

However, if you are a beginning comedian looking to market youself throw youtube, you might be willing to pay to have the audience of an established channel promote you so you videos are actually seem and you get views plus subscribers to your channel to take advantage of the viral effects out youtube.

Adsense v.s (text link ads or private ad sales

Google is going to take more than my 10,20,30 percent. So more money is kept by the publisher. And on that note you can now monitize with youtube ads in video, and private ads sold through my service.

So yeah google/youtube can copy that as well, but i’m giving it a shot.

Marc wanna sell the blog? I’m interested.

This is SO COOL. Great that you were able to give up your job.

It’s good to hear from you again Marc. Some interesting ideas and I respect the leap you’re making. I’m confused on why you spent 10k on a blog if you’re just going to focus your attention on content sites or other projects? This is a great platform to have in addition to your other projects, I wouldn’t let it fade too much.

Good luck Marc. Let me know how the PPC stuff goes. I’m a big SEO buff, but I haven’t made that jump into PPC. If it works well for you, come back here and let us know =)
Good to hear about the pretty girls =P Sometimes you have to take some time off for the ladies =)

On a serious note Marc… I’m glad your back in the game. I knew, you knew… I think we all knew, you were wasting time with those tutorials. We’re here for you dude, we’re not here useless time wasting banter. We’re here to see you kick butt and take numbers.

I would STRONGLY recommend that you utilize all your traffic and support to help propel your other ventures… I’m sure we’ll follow along there too, but you’ve GOT to COMMUNICATE… especially if your calling on funky people like us to help you out as business partners!

Be cool enjoy floating down a raging river… If you’re not back in a few days, I’ll know what happened. (Write me in your will before you go) :-) Be cool.

Marc - Thee thing that you are forgetting about the keyword results are that the more results you find, the harder it is to rank for that specific phrase. Also, you don’t have to have the keyword in your URL if you are good at generating links. I recommend bookmarking demon to generate links - http://siteflipu.com/bookmarkingdemon

Also, if you do a redirect, Google will catch on eventually and you’ll lose any rankings you may have earned.

Just remember, start out with the long tail. Chase phrases like “cool youtube videos” or “youtube advertising”, rather than “youtube”. You’ll get better results, in a shorter time. And then, with time, you can start chasing bigger keyphrases. And if you haven’t read “The Long Tail”. Go buy it… it’s going to affect everything you do as a blogger from the point you read it on.

@Piss Biscuit - nope, I don’t want to sell the blog. Thanks for the interest.

@Aaron - yeah, I’m pretty excited about this.

@Nashville SEO Zombie - I’m a little confused about why I bought this site as well. I didn’t know what I was doing I just got excited and jumped in. Now my business model is evolving as I learn more. However, within this blog I would probably still be selling real estate and dreaming about doing what I want.

As for PPC, i’m trying to decide rather I want to pay to send people to a landing page or if I want to going “long” with the idea and tring to squeze and e-mail and try to sell to the list.

@Piss Biscuit - Truth hurts, but good to know and adjust. Communication will be improving with this new, freed up time.

    @Byran - thanks

Bryan just dropped his affiliate link in your comments, lol. That’s what I’ve been telling you to do Marc. See how clean that link looks. Its not a dead give away. Every single person who comes to this site and clicks that link, and buys, means money in Bryan’s pocket.

I use BMD. I know Vic at BU was a dick to you, but he does have good tutorials on how to use it. If you buy the program, check out Vic’s videos. (my advice would be to clear your cookies, go sign up for your OWN affiliate account and buy it using your link. If you like it, then you can promote it here with that same affiliate account)

This again shows that Bryan Clark is a true 100% bona fide jerk. He sells you the blog for ten grand and then comes back and posts comments which include HIS affiliate link! And you let him. LOL

    Bad idea.

It’s only a matter of time till YouTube has it’s team of attorneys confiscate your domain.

Youtube is a registered trademark of Google. You can’t use their name or likeness at all.

    Next idea….

@Nashville and Sarah - I know pretty lame, but whatever I really don’t care.

@Adam - good point, I’m looking to go more passive anyway.

You seem to have a passion for kayaking and mountain biking, i say start a blog on that. Seriously, i think you should.

You quit your job, without having another one on the wings. Oh, Marc, why do i feel like a mom here. And im not even a mom. LOL. I have no kids. Maybe i’ll adopt you.

You do have good spirits and i see commenters genuinely and sincerely trying to help and advise you. I dont know if you know this, but Adwords is expensive, i myself have not tried it, because i dont know it too well, and like i said, it is rather expensive.

Get yourself another job. Oh, wait you are still working at the restaurant, right? Well thats good, you do seem like a hard worker, dont quit that one. Not because you arent set for making money online, it is just too early for you to do so.

Wait till you’e making a killing online, then quit. Keep doing what you’re doing, which is research, practice, network, etc.

Im keeping a watch and tabs on you. Sending good vibes your way. Peace and Luv. Missy.

If you guys would check the bottom of your screen as the link redirects, it goes directly to bookmarkingdemon.com - it’s not an affiliate link. The only reason it was cloaked, was because it came up in conversation that Marc should redirect his links. That link was redirected by using Easy Link Manager, which is HIGHLY recommended. I was just showing Marc how redirected links work. My affiliate link for BMD is only found on my blog… I’m not disrespectful enough to do that to someone else.

  20. By Marc on Jun 10, 2008 | Reply

@Missy - I would like to start a blog in that niche the problem is I’m not sure there is much money over there. My motivation is to do this so I can kayak and mountain bike. Does that make sense.

I’m definatly down to be adopted, I could use a sugar mommy. I make enough to live off of with the Ore House, so I don’t want another job. Thanks for watching. By the way, totally respectfully you have cambells soup ads on the side of you veggie blog advertising chicken cassorole??? Thanks for stoping by, much love.

@Bryan - I like how you confort people instead of hiding. Truth be told I wouldn’t mind if you did, you have helped me out so much.

Thanks Marc, but as the commenters said… If I had done that, it would have been a pretty jerky move. I’m not going to disrespect anyone like that. And the help is here as long as you need it, give me a call anytime!
