Installing A Theme On Your WordPress Blog

What’s up everybody, I’m sorry its been so long since my last post. I’ve had crazy week and I feel like I have grown up a lot in a 2 week period. More on this to come.

It seems like the Co-op is a good idea and people are down with it, I’m just not sure the best way to go about it. Please more suggestions, I want you to help contribute if you have good ideas so we can make it our co-op.

This post is the 4th in the creating a vlog series. I think having a vlog is important for personal development but I realize that I want to spend the rest of my time creating content sites. This series is for that as well and there will be future posts on my work with content sites.

Anyway, today’s post is going to show you how to install a theme on your new wordpress vlog. The theme I have picked out is Prosense. It has adsense ad blocks already on it and is optimized for SEO. This blog, onemansgoal uses the Dream Theme by Ben Cope and it looks a lot nicer than Prosense but I would recommend starting with adsense before you start trying to sell your own ads.

There have been a lot of comments regarding text as well as video so you’re going to get both. So feel free to read the text or watch the video. I understand it is hard to process all of the thoughts in the video so maybe watch the video and clarify with text.

So we have already set up our go daddy account and registered a domain name, set up our hosting account and installed wordpress onto our host gator account. Now we have a bland looking blog it will function but it doesn’t look that good and it hasn’t been monetized. So now we are going install a theme.

First Step - You need to google wordpress themes and find one that you like. I googled wordpress adsense themes and that is where I found prosense but you can choose any theme you like.

Second Step - Download the theme and save it to your computer, after this is completed you need to un-zip the files.

Third Step - The files are now on your computer so you need to open you ftp (file transfer something?) software. I use smart ftp and you can download it here. Now open up the ftp and open up your desktop and drag and drop the files over onto your server. As I sitting here I think I need to make a video showing you how to use ftp, however I’m a newbie as well and I figured it out pretty quit. Play around with it and you will get it.

Fourth Step - Log into the back-end of your blog and go to Presentation. You will see your current theme and then you will see prosense or dream theme below it. Double click on it and bam your done.

You’ll have a great day and remember it you want something take it. No one is going to give you want you want you have to go out and grab it. Don’t read blogs all day take action and get yourself free.

Good stuff for the newbs, however, it seems like it got cut off at the end while you were still talking…not sure if it’s supposed to be like that.
