The Importance Of Blogging Should Go Beyond You.
By Marc on Jun 14, 2008 in Principles of Success
I’ve wanted to write this post for a while now. It addresses the other side of why I’m blogging and taking the time to learn all of this stuff. What good is having a lot of money and be able to travel around if you can’t enjoy it with other people. This make money online thing has very low barriers to entry, anyone can go it. However, it doesn’t come easy and I’m realizing it more and more every day but I’m 25, I got 40 more years of work to go if I don’t make it. So is it such a ridiculous dream to think if I stay on the grind for 10 years I can’t be making 5K to 7K a month. I don’t think so.
Now the fun part. I’m moving down to Florida in October to live with my buddy and his girlfriend to chill and build my business on the beach. Also, the other member of the old crew is moving down from Oregon. Both of my buddies are interested in trying to learn how to make money online. All of us will be waiting tables and trying to build sites, traffic and income the rest of the time. (Plus there will be a lot of kiteboarding. If you don’t know about kiteboarding check this out, kiteboarding is the most fun thing I’ve every done).
When I first got interested in this stuff over Thanksgiving I registered a free wordpress blog. Then I heard I needed to register my own domain name, I quit because I was so angry and didn’t know how to do it. It is amazing how much I’ve learned so far and how much I still need to learn. (Remember when you didn’t know how to get a domain name.) I remember reading blog posts and having to Google like 3-4 different words just to understand what the heck they were talking about. Now, the gift I can share with them is my 7 months of knowledge all boiled down into about 3 weeks training and they will have the knowledge I have now and we can expand.
The way I hope it goes down is all three of us are working on different projects and getting ourselves free. However it ends up with me and my situation the reality is the same. Everything your learning right now you can share with your friends, the gift of freedom and travel if the work is put in.
Peace.

Awesome, it’s good to hear about how you got your basis in the industry. Definitely have to agree with you on the fact that you need to put the work in if you want to retire with some freedom on the books

I thought you were in real estate? Are you quitting that to go almost full time with blogging? Trading a real estate income for waiting tables? Wow, that takes guts! Good luck. Marc, you WILL succeed if you keep learning and building. Don’t get discouraged and keep an open mind.
When I first started researching how to make money online I eventually became convinced about a number of things. This was my platform of knowledge that I thought was a sound foundation to build off of. But, like many things in life, as I learned even more I found that all the things I was convinced of I wasn’t really all that convinced anymore.
Kind of like when you are 16 and you think you know what is important in life and what is not…then when you are 30 you have a completely different outlook on life based on experience and not what you’ve have been told.
Same thing with making money online. In 5 years from now you will probably have a completely different outlook on what the deal really is. Do you agree with me?
If you hold the same convictions in 5 years from now as you did when you first started then that would sort of imply that you haven’t learned much.
Keep an open mind, keep learning and make that money!

Another home run. Keep them coming. You’re redefining the genre. It’s refreshing to hear someone that has such courage. Keep it up. You’re doing great. It’s all roses from here baby. You’re on top. You’re breaking it down so you can built it up again, only this time better.
Very inspiring.

Thanks for sharing the story. Never give up. I find the fact that I can be my own boss and have the lifestyle I want is the greatest motivation.

Marc, I started blogging in April 2007, and let me tell you, i was blind as a bat.
But now over a year later, i still dont know jack. LOL. no, im kidding. You will amaze yourself come June 2009, and all that you have learned. Jump in and swim, the water is awesome.
Just learn, ask, research, and read, read, read. You’ll be making more than Bryan soon enough. But to run, you must walk first. Jeez! I tthink i’m starting to sound like Yoda or something. I’ll shut up now.
