I make money blogging but in a totally different way than you are trying to. I never connect with my readers...in fact I hardly have any readers on any of my 55 or so blogs. No one would dare advertise on my blogs either:) But I make my money with niche blogs that are more like sites than blogs. I do this full time too. I just don't understand what the whole feedreader count thing means. The only blog I ever had with readers was my first blog...and I never made any real money with it. Go figure... One thing I have learned though, and you might be interested in my advice since it seems you are new to this business, is that all traffic is not created equally. Your readers will read...organic traffic with a need clicks...that's why I don't do stumble and digg. The traffic from those kinds of places is bad traffic. The people who come from the sites are usually smart and savvy. They make the worst clickers of all! In my experience it's folks who know nothing about online marketing that click like crazy and make me tons of money. I hope this blog works out for you and your attitude is commendable. Just a thought... perhaps you should start a few niche blogs to make some money and keep this blog as your personal blog where you can interact with friends and readers? Just a thought.
