How to Step up a GoDaddy Account and Register a Domain Name
By Marc on Apr 30, 2008 in Video Posts
To begin, I apologize if this post is too basic for you. I’m making this post because I need to lay the ground work for future posts. I’m beginning to realize how hard it is to please everyone but know I’m trying. I’m going to create posts from now on to please my target market. Video Bloggers
Also, I want to let you all know that the guest posters have been let go. All future post will be me doing videos. The topic of this blog will now be my goal of financial independence through vloging, teaching others to vlog, and creating other income streams using video.
The people spoke and I listened
This video post will show you how to set up a Godaddy account and will be the first part in a series of creating a vlog using wordpress. Enjoy
As always, all comments and feedback will be appreciated.

Hey Marc,
I think it’s great that you have decided on a focus. Video seems to be the direction a lot of the blogs are heading in. I am anxiously awaiting any tutorials you create about the actual video set-up and tools, including the camera you use, why you chose it and what type of software you use. Anyway, doing a video tutorial about domain name registration seems like a pretty good idea, but tell me….was one of my most recent posts an inspiration for today’s topic
Anyway, sorry that you had to let the writers go. If you ever need a guest post you know where to find me.

As a friend of Bryan, and a new fan of Marc, I think this is a great idea bro! I’m sure there are quite a few out there that want to know this stuff, and I’m glad someone is breaking it down easy for them.
On a sidenote: If any of the ex-writers need work, just head over to my site and shoot me an email, and I’ll see what we can work out
Thanks!

Good tutorial!
Thanks Marc. Thanks for the email too
Basic is fine imo, I’m surprised sometimes by things some people get hung up on and for anyone registering their first domain, this should be useful.
One thing I hate about godaddy is that they throw so many “buy more stuff” pages at you before you can finally check out.
Namecheap provides 1 year free whois privacy if you’re concerned about hiding your info.

Bravo, Marc!
I was surprised by your comment about trying to please everyone… I guess that’s a luxury that amateur bloggers have - we can say what we want, do what we want. It must be tough jumping into this situation and I applaud you for the way you’ve taken the high road.
Good tutorial. I agree that basic is fine because it’s on video. Just by vlogging, you’ve differentiated yourselves from the countless others. People can ramble on about the benefits of vlogging, but have they actually done it or is it theory and something on their “to do” list? So good on you for making the step by step tutorial. A lot will benefit from it. I know I will.

I love GoDaddy. Personally I use them to host all my domain names but I am not a huge fan of their hosting. Sure you can get it to do everything that you want but it seems to be better suited for people with one (or two) sites. If you have 4 or 5 sites it begins to get a little cumbersome.
Just my two cents.

I have to say Marc I was disapointed at first, but now that I understand completely your focus and goals, I can see how this will be a great vehical for you to persue your dreams.
Take care and I wish you much success! I’ll be keeping tabs on you.

@Nashville SEO Zombie - I agree with you in the fact that godaddy pushes to much additional product on you. However, using it a couple of times the service has been great and after you register a few domain names you just block all the ads out.
@Investing for beginners - Just two weeks ago I would have agreed with you on this. Than I watch this great video by Gary Vaynerchuck and it changed my mind. Follow the link, he has great videos. http://garyvaynerchuk.com/2008/04/19/you-can-please-eveyonewhy-not/
@Mark - I’m not a big fan of their hosting either, but I love their domain service
@Lisa - Thank you for understanding and good luck to you as well

WOW! Way to go Marc. After just commenting on how uninspiring one of your guest bloggers other posts was, I was just about to get back to work when I checked this post. So many peope struggle with their blogs initially (including me) because they do not have a focus - more of a general idea as to what they are going to blog about. You have indentified this very early on and I will be following your goal (basic or not!).
Well done for listening to your readers too!

I would like to say it needs one to be really brave to write such posts on a popular blog.
Nice work though !

@Nishu - Thanks for the support. I realize posting a beginner topic in a popular blog is an interesting choice. But I need to lay the foundation of blogging with my videos so when I move on to more advanced topics, when new people come to the blog I can show them how to get to where I will be at the point. Also, I’m a newbie, I’m learing as I go as well

I currently use namecheap to register my domain names, do you suggest godaddy over namecheap?
