Create a Captivating Blog

A blog is only as good as the content it offers its readers. If you want your blogging career to be successful, you need to captivate your visitors with quality content so they will be encouraged to come back and tell the blogging community about you. In the blogosphere, you see blogs that reflect the blogger’s personality. Sometimes, personality is enough to attract and maintain a loyal following but most of the time; the blogger needs to provide something relevant to keep their visitors coming back.

It is also a good idea to show your personality even though you are writing about business or technical topics. Sharing personal trivia that is relevant to the topic posted will also generate more interest. Other methods you can use include:

1. Write Attention Grabbing Titles – this advice has been repeated many times over but its importance cannot be emphasized enough in the blogosphere. People will naturally read and comment on titles that grab their attention.

2. Use Images – having a supporting image will make your blog posts a lot more attractive. It is not always necessary to insert images so use your judgment. The important thing is for you to use images to reinforce or complement your content, it should not distract from what you are trying to say.

3. Offer Something New – most of the stuff written on the internet has been written and rewritten a lot of times and people are tired of reading content they already saw someplace else. Try to offer your readers something new or innovative. For example, OneMansGoal is experimenting with videos in order to offer visitors something new. On the other hand, there are also some blogs that makes use of information that are not really new but it is written in a refreshing way.

If I could add one more item, relevance. Make sure that what you are blogging can be made relevant to the readings. Otherwise as they begin to read they will say, “So what” and leave your site.

    Hope this helps :-)

Great advice, I agree, you have to present good and relevant information if you want visitors to stay and read what’s on your blog and to come back.It is also important to continuously up-date and put new post on your blog, maybe even put guest post on it to keep visitors coming back. Again, good advice.

I like some of the posts here, but I find posts like this a little tired =(

Titles, image, content… same old song

I like your videos Mark, but you should watch out pushing out content like this imo.
