Straight From The Hip - Bryan Clark’s Response

So, I’ve sat back and soaked up about as much abuse as one man can take. It doesn’t bother me really, it leaves a smile on my face knowing that Marc is getting some good publicity and generating a decent amount of buzz. That’s really about all Vic is good for - generating buzz. I’m not here to wage a war, or to share with you my personal opinion of Vic. If you want my opinion, check out this article.

So the truth is, although I’ve been slapped with the “scammer” tag by Vic, and his mindless minions, they couldn’t be more wrong. I sold this site to Marc, I stand behind it.

Here are the facts, which seem to be forgotten by these people that wish to share their ill-will, and negativity. It’s easy to write a post on a hot topic, and this is definitely a hot topic right now, but it takes a REAL writer to go over the facts and decide for themselves, whether or not what they are reading is true. Marc can verify the validity of these claims, and they are 100% true.

Facts

  • One Man’s Goal sold for $10,500 to Marc
  • The site was a PUBLIC auction on Sitepoint.Com
  • Marc submitted a Buy-It-Now offer via PM
  • I had no prior contact with Marc
  • Marc WAS NOT the highest bidder for One Man’s Goal. I had a few bids (that happened to be higher) after we had already agreed on a preliminary deal, and had set a final price. I am an ethical guy, and I’m not going to play bidders against one another to increase my bottom line, especially after I have already reached a deal. I thought many times of backing out of the deal to go with a higher bidder, but my conscience wouldn’t allow it. Marc and I had reached a deal… DONE!
  • I did not actively seek out Marc as the buyer for my website. He sent me a message asking what I’d consider for a Buy-It-Now price, and I replied.
  • I was unaware Marc was so new to blogging, until after we had already begun the closing process via Escrow.Com. I still would have sold him the site, it’s not my place to decide what is “too much” for an aspiring entrepreneur, but the fact is that I didn’t know he was so new, which is contrary to the posts which make it seem like I sold to him BECAUSE he was so new.
  • In fact, I warned Marc on a couple of different occasions that Make Money Online blogs normally take a dip for a few months after the site is transferred. He was aware of this already, and we decided to move on with the closing process.
  • I have, and will always be here to help Marc on his journey. He reminds me a lot of myself when I first started (9 months ago), from the laid-back attitude, to the Bartending/Real Estate background. I think he’s a perfect fit.
  • Marc is a smart, charismatic, and ambitious guy. He’ll have his roadblocks, but I have nothing but confidence that he’s going to hurdle them without much difficulty.

So here’s the deal folks. I’m not worried about the negative press. I’ve talked to Marc, and he’s not either. In fact, it’s great for the blog. So, I’m going to be here for him anytime he needs me. I can’t guarantee success, and anybody that claims they can is lying to you. I’ll be here to help, and to allow him to accomplish all that’s possible in this niche, and with this blog. He’s learned a lot already, and he seems to have a natural hunger for this type of information. I was the same way, and that’s exactly why I’m where I am today - Making a GREAT income online, and forgetting about a 9 to 5 job.

All of this negativity is good for NOBODY. Marc has a positive attitude, and he’s moving forward, towards his goal of making a great living online. So my message to Marc? Screw the negative people, they come with success, and they’ll always be around. The truth about negativity is that it does nothing, for no one. So move past it, and start creating momentum for your new journey. Good luck my friend!

Great post, Bryan. I know that people are supporting Vic a lot behind this, but I find that he seems to just try to pick on people. He may have helped a lot of people, and more power to him, but I don’t like the attitude he exudes.

Good luck, Marc.. I’ll be following your progress.

    Bryan:

I am glad to see you here.

    Marc:

Many people try to upset you, because they don’t have the guts to admit their own failure and they are not brave enough to be called stupid. They don’t want you to succeed. They are just human beings.

However, I will recommend you to check out those sites to find out why they claim they are the best. Learn from them and make your blog better than their.

Don’t follow the flow. Make your blog more than just a blog. Blog is not the only ways to make money online. It’s just the tool.

Your goal is to make million. Focus on your goal not the barriers.

I couldn’t agree more with Terence. The true reason I sold this blog is because I had outgrown it. It’s just like Nick said in a previous comment on another post, Marc has his finger on the pulse of what this blog is all about, a man with a goal to do big things. I’ve accomplished what I sought out to do originally, and now am moving on to bigger and better things. A blog can be a great income producer, but it definitely worked as more of a springboard for me. It introduced me to great contacts, and wonderful people who gave me all sorts of money-making ideas. Time to move on to new things…

Marc will do very well with this blog, it’s just like I said, he exudes everything that this blog started out as… a young, smart, and ambitious entrepreneur that wants to make his mark.

Hey Mark….I would change your title tags so your blog doesn’t use Bryan’s name for the keywords anymore.

I am sure you are getting your hands around it and have a million things to do.

As you know I have been following this one closely and was amazed at all the negativity on other posts on this site. Kudos to you Bryan for your response to all this, and for sticking around to help Marc out. I have seen scams and been scammed and I’ll tell you what…..this is no scam!

Good luck to both of you!

Heh, as a newcomer to this mess I took an instant dislike to Vic’s approach. Maybe it’s just that I value basic politeness and a good attitude in people?

Anyway, this doesn’t look like a scam to me. Provided Marc is able to make his money back in a reasonable amount of time, it’s a good deal.

I guess Vic won’t be so quick to jump on this article. He’s only interested in getting his opinion across, so when the truth comes out, he’s quiet. Typical!

I guess it’s for the best. It’s not like he’d actually post what ACTUALLY happened. He’s happy with his readers thinking I’m a scammer.

  10. By Stonkin on Apr 16, 2008 | Reply

    Because you are a scammer

  11. By Terence Chang on Apr 16, 2008 | Reply

I just don’t like people who left negative comments and have no guts to leave their URL and positive suggestion.

I don’t agree with the ways Vic express his opinions, but he did make some good points on how to make money online. We all learn from each other from time to time.

Calling people scammer without the guts to prove themselves differently. They are the coward.

By the way, Bryan. Where are you up to these days?

    Any update?

    Hey Terence,

Right now I’m kinda just sitting back and enjoying some free time. As you know, I haven’t taken much time off (except for a cruise in March), and I need to recharge a bit.

After that, I have several exciting projects up my sleeve. I’ve teamed with a couple of good guys, and we are ironing out the details for a couple of things. Sorry for the vague answer, but I’ll be sure to contact you and let you know what’s going on when we have something a bit more solid.

Hope you are doing well my friend.

Just read the post on BloggerUnleashed and I have to say that I reckon their attitude is despicable.

I believe the price paid for the site is actually pretty reasonable - the Alexa is at 120,000th and taking a quick look at prices for used domains over at tdnam dot com I can see plenty of examples that I would consider to be a worse deal than this - how about togetafreecopy dot com for $50,000 with no site in place and no traffic built. OneMansGoal.com is a pretty cool domain.

One final thing - I believe the saying “all publicity is good publicity” applies in this case and the blog has hopefully received a bit of extra attention which seems like justice to me.

Good luck to you Marc and good on you Bryan for following through.

The only thing I have to say in working with Marc is that he knows more than he’s given credit for, from what I can see so far.

I also feel Bryan is as legit as they come.

I think this is an exciting move!

    Take care,
    Lisa

I’m working up to the point where I can screw someone out of ten grand for my site too. Seems like the “in” thing to do. I think I might already be there. Maybe I can get fifteen grand!

As a domain investor, I can tell you that a domain with as many incoming links as OMG has could have easily fetched over $ 10,000 at a domain auction.

I will follow to see what Marc does with it and support him in any way I can.

@GoalGuru.com - Is there a general “rule of thumb” of value per link, or maybe per 1k visitors, when selling your domain? What statistics are most valuable when valuating a domain?

I’d be happy to hear anyone’s opinion on this.

  18. By GoalGuru.com on Apr 25, 2008 | Reply

Mark, there cannot be one “across the board” valuation per link because some words and topics fetch far higher prices. There are a multitude of factors for determining the value of a domain. Some are: past use, incoming links, brandability, alexa ranking, type in traffic, etc.

The best advice I have is to study, on a weekly basis, the weekly domain sales reports at http://www.DNJournal.com

If you want to ask my opinion about a specific domain, feel free to email me.

Bryan Clark is definitely a scammer. He sold a worthless blog to a noob for over ten thousand dollars. The only reason “he stands behind it” is because he knows that everybody else knows his dirty laundry.

The word is out man, I see Bryan clarks being called a scammer everywhere. On all these blogs and even in some articles I was browsing at some of the article directories.

Geez Bryan, this is going to negatively effect your credibility. Loser.

  20. By Lachlan on Jun 12, 2008 | Reply

Bryan Clark is NOT a scammer. What is wrong with you people? Can’t stand someone making a buck on a sale?

Perhaps it’s because people like you John have failed to make any money online? Sour grapes…

I just don’t understand what all the fuss is about - wpdesigner.com has a similar alexa rank and had an asking price of $65,000 - it reportedly sold for approx half that, somewhere in the region of 30k.

Don’t you people get it? Websites with rank and traffic make money. Therefore a website like this one is worth money - what’s 10k anyway? A drop in the ocean.

Bryan could easily have put a higher price tag on this site.

The fact is that certain bloggers on other sites know they can get a lot of traffic by hyping up a story and that’s exactly what has happened. Shame on the people who stirred up this non-event at the expense of someone else.

    @Mark Venardi
I agree with Jill - many factors involved in domain/website valuation - A simple way of coming to a figure is to multiply the annual revenue by 8X or 10X as you would with any other business. Not always that accurate as the web shifts pretty quickly… this is how perez hilton’s blog ended up with a value of $48Million…
