Where is the “Make Money Online” Niche Heading? (Video)
By Marc on Apr 13, 2008 in Video Posts
Alright, for my second post I will be discussing where I feel the “make money online” niche is heading in the future. I took most of my morning to look at the growth and age structure of the United States population, statistics and projections on internet usage and spending on internet advertisement, and thinking about how to capitalize on the growth I see happening in the future.
Eventually I’ll figure out how to do the fancy videos where I can put a power point presentation on video and talk over it but for now here we go. All of my information has been researched and feel free to check my sources by clicking the links below the video

Marc,
You may feel that the comments from the Blogger Unleashed community were negative and a maybe even a personal attack on you.
I’m so sorry if that is what you think but you couldn’t be further from the truth. We were infact trying to help you.
Maybe you could have had the chance to get some or all of your money back, doesn’t look like that is something you’re considering. Shame.
I really wished you had listed to some of the advice. You could have done a lot worse than go over to Grizzly’s and Vics’s Blogs to see exactly where these guys are coming from. Did you? I doesn’t seem so.
Vic and Griz are in the Business of helping people like yourself, total beginners at making money online.
I did feel sad for you, but on the strenth of your actions you seem to be convinced that the path you have chosen is the right one. I want you to be a success, but I don’t feel you’ll get it from this site. Clueless, I really hope you don’t have to learn the hard way with this.
You say your going to document your learning process. Marc, thee are thousands, millions of other MMO blogs doing the same thing.
Truth is, most people are not interested in watching you learn. They want to learn something themselves, from an authority with proven results, from somebody who genuinely wants to help. They want to make money now, are you going to teach them. I don’t think so.
Look, I’ll leave it here. You were warned by people who actually care, I hope you can prove all of us doubters wrong.
Good luck marc.

Marc let me put it to you this way all the traffic you have received these past days has been from BU readers I actually received an email to look at your video because I would LMAO which to be honest I did not as it is sad and not funny. The buzz you mention is because I talked about it and after that some BU readers did follow up post no Marc you have no buzz as soon as I stop talking about you or your site you will be another dead MMO blog look at your Alexa when it updates when you see the spike guess what day that spike is the day I talked about you besides that Marc no there is no “buzz”. But the facts are the facts in about 2 weeks you will have this really sick feeling in your gut that feeling will be the realization you made a horrible mistake. You can still save it change your niche to real estate for the new guy CPC in Adsense depending the keyword you target is as high as $30.
If you really want to learn go read all my post and watch all my videos you do not have to comment if you feel embarrassed you can contact me via my contact form and I will answer your questions in private.

I’m not worried about the rankings slipping, in fact I expect it. I bought this blog because I want to be heard right away.
I think you have great information, I just have a simple difference in opinion than you on the value of this blog. Look man, I really interested in internet marketing and the make money online niche and I’m coming to compete for traffic. I was going to start my own blog but I had the money and this blog was for sale. I agree with you that a lot of make money online blogs lose traffic, but this one contained the exact audience I wanted to go for - people interested in watching someone else make money online.
I appreciate your posts and trying to help me, but I’m straight. This is what I want to do and I’m going to continue to do it, thanks for both your posts and insights. As I type this I’m laugh how “soft” this sounds but I’m cool with it. I here to document myself make money, thats it. Friends are better than enemeys and I look forward to your posts in the future.

You should read the book The Long Tail. It covers a lot of concepts that will explain why there is movement toward the internet. Its the concept that the internet provides unlimited options which allows people to find ultra specific needs instead of general topics. The masses are moving away from the head of the curve and moving to the tail.
This is what Vic, Court, and Griz teach. Niche marketing. The only problem with MMO is two things:
1) Its highly competitive and not as much of a long tail. You could get more specific.
2) The users are more technical than most internet users. They know whats going on with ads, etc. They are MUCH harder to sell to. For example, Court had to change his ads back when he started cause people just wouldn’t click his google ads. Also, he can’t put ads on his case study, cause his viewers are driven to it, and they don’t click. So to save his CTR, he keeps them off.
You should take note from people like him (Court). And understand that the money isn’t in the MMO niche. Or at least, not in the traditional way.
Now, the concept of following your journey is interesting, but if you stick to this blog only, your journey will be short lived. You need to build more sites, you need to diversify. Use this blog as a platform to tell us about your journey on OTHER sites.
Cause the truth is… the concepts that apply to MMO blogs, DO NOT APPLY TO OTHER CASES. The information and statistics you learn here, honestly won’t count for jack imo. I don’t want to market to technical web designers and SEO’s. I don’t want to market to desperate people who are poor and desperate for a quick cash scheme. I don’t want to learn about their behavior. I don’t want to know what kind of traffic you get from a technical forum. I want to know how general forum users act. Like at DP, you see links in everyone’s footers… I bet people get use to this, and block them out… less likely to click. Now, this behavior will be different most likely at an entertainment forum whose user base is teen girls.
Your results might be: posting with a link generates little traffic and is worth nothing more than an anchored low quality back link
But the truth might be: In the MTV entertainment niche, forum users are very likely to click on a footer link. Almost twice as likely as technical forum users…
Just a BS case scenario, but I’m sure there is a difference in behavior
Imagine restricting yourself to only selling real estate to people in the real estate business. I have no experience in real estate, but I bet it’d be a hell of a lot harder if you restricted yourself.
Take a look at Griz’s site. Look at Courts. Look at Vics. Look at their traffic history. Look at their current rankings. These guys are highly successful in a difficult niche, and they built it from the bottom up. So when one of them speaks up, and gives you advice, I think its a bad call to ignore it.
I’m not trying to be an ass. An honest opinion from someone who’d rather see this blog take off than see it flop.

Marc,
These people are telling you the truth. When I started blogging the first thing I did was search for ‘How to Make Money Online’, I did all kinds of different variations, and somehow this site showed up, I don’t know how I got here, but the blog was within 2 weeks of the same age as mine, and this guy was talking about how he was learning how to make money and how he would post what he learned. I figured what the hell, maybe I can learn something from him, we’re the same age, I’ll let him mess up, spend the money, and I’ll capitilize. Well, I’m going to be 100% honest with you right now, the stuff Bryan was doing to make money was about as helpful to me as falling into a pile of dog shit. Why? Because I don’t run a MMO blog. In what you do there is no ethics, or credibility, or any rules for that matter. You can sling products, compromise your integrity for a buck, and no one is going to bat an eye. But if I’m writing about baseball, how the hell am I going to pitch some bullshit affiliate product without looking like an asshole and making all my readers run, to never come back? Bryan didn’t make his ‘fortune’ from this site.
The last time he posted his income was on in October before the sale. He made $670, $240 coming from an outside project. The rest of his money came from building and selling blogs. http://onemansgoal.com/188/monthly-update-month-4/ There’s the report. Do what these people are telling you, you already got one site, get some more and talk about how you make money other places, do things that people can emulate, show them how to make real money without running a MMO blog. Buying affiliate products and telling use which ones are the best isn’t going to help. Why? Because none of us can pitch products on our pages because we aren’t MMO blogs, and now you aren’t an authority, so it isn’t going to help us either. If you say a product is good, what are you basing it off of. Take 300 bucks, set up some BINs and tell us how it works from a beginners perspective, the ups, the downs, the ins, the outs. That’s something any, and all of us can emulate. It will help a braoder scope of people on a specific topic, and it will make you more money, and you will actually be helping people, WHILE MAKING MORE MONEY

Marc Ebook? “Big Shot Blogging” LMAO!!!! Are you kidding? LMAO!!!
I just got emailed about you saying people want to learn they should read the ebook that scammer boy wrote. Marc, dude which part of Bryan Clark is as clueless as you did you not get?
Bryan Clark comes from the school of Yaro the head scammer that teaches to build a site using Stumble Tweeter etc etc then make and ebook stuff it with affiliate links also get the emails o you can sell them crap and most of the time really spam the hell out of people and if things do not go well find a sucker to sell the pretty blog for 10,500 LMAO!!!
No doubt this is my last visit here no matter what other laughable thing you post I am done. We did our best to give you solid advice from here on you can never say I did not know I made almost 19k last month and almost all of it came from my niches BU being an MMO makes no money but I do not do it for the money that is why if you go to my site you see no “Advertise HERE” I have turned down 900 dollars for a pay per post and thousands in “Advertising” offers because the facts are my integrity comes before a buck.
Also if you plan to talk about things do proper research as it seems again as said from the beginning son the internet as we know it became popular mid 80s. In 1980, H&R Block bought CompuServe the first real ISP we would connect with a proprietary browser to content and forums moderated by sysops. By 1995 they had over three million members and we would browse the net using the Spry Mosaic browser again son stick to what you know Real Estate and apparently not that good at that either maybe you should just write about wordpress plugins, simple you really can not mess up

Vic,
Didn’t you promise like 4 months ago that THAT was your last comment here? I’ll address all of this shortly. But in the mean time, leave Marc out of this. Your feud is with me, and Marc is just someone that stepped in and bought the vehicle that I used to feud with you about. Leave him alone, and come after me if you have anything to say.

Marc,
I mean no offense but this video plays like a school book report. Semi-relevant facts are presented that when added up together don’t really prove any point.
I realize you’re new to this but honestly this video would only cater to someone too lazy to do their own research. Are these the kinds of people you want as readers? If so, how long do you think these people will give a go at making money online if they’re too lazy to figure out what the internet is? Do you still think they’ll read your blog after they’ve given up and you’ve provided them with nothing solid to boost their chances at succeeding. Quite honestly, most lay people already probably know everything you just talked about.
I’m disappointed that you haven’t taken advantage of Vic, Grizz, or Court. Vic and Grizz might seem harsh from your point of view but if you listen to them I guarantee you’ll be enlightened. You do want to make money don’t you?
I’ll tell you what, if you really don’t want to listen to Vic or Grizz…do yourself a favor and go to courtneytuttle.com. Court has killer information and a great, easy to understand, to-the-point writing style and he gives basically the same tips as Vic or Grizz without the fangs, lol.
I know it may seem like I worship these guys as demi-gods but you seem like a nice guy and since you’re just starting out it’s info you need. If you’re staunch on making this a ‘journey blog’ you wouldn’t even have to change the format. You’d just be learning how to make money the right way and the quickest legitimate way, I might add.
Marc, I’m not trying to tell you what to do. It’s your decision, I just hope that you take all options into consideration before you continue forward.
I wish you the best.

@ Vic:
“the facts are my integrity comes before a buck.”
I’m confused how you can publicly slander someone as a dumbf*ck and claim you possess integrity.
This whole scenario is a yawn.
Congrats on the new purchase Marc (and sale Bryan).

Marc,
I have to agree it does sound like a school report. I think you have too much information in one post. I feel like I am in school again.
The information is great. It’s just too much for one sitting. I like the idea of you having a lot of guest bloggers. And you are right that more and more people from different countries will be using the internet and we need to keep that in mind.

Guys! When you all first started your blogs…I’m sure your posts weren’t at the level that they’re probably (hopefully) at now.
Give the guy some time to learn what he needs to learn, and soak up everything. Everyone jumped on him right off the bat giving him orders…frankly, I would have told most of you to fuck off right from the get-go…but that’s just me.
Again, give him time to learn, and go about your business! There seems to be hints of jealousy contained in some of the comments, and it really sounds tacky, to say the least.
And to top it off, if I were Bryan Clark, I would take some of the proceeds and retain an attorney who specializes in slander/defamation of character, and sue Vic’s shorts off.
Why?
Calling someone a scammer and publicly defaming his character after a public auction sale is definitely crossing the line, due to the fact that Vic does have a provable, large influence - large enough to take possible future revenue out of Bryan Clarks pocket because of his public remarks against Bryans character. And hopefully he’ll sue all of Vics minions that did the same against Bryan throughout the course of these events.
The best part is? There is plenty of hard evidence (blogs have been known to land people in major legal trouble due to claims like Vic and friends made, if you weren’t aware of that), and I really think Bryan has a case, if he wants one!
Go get ‘em tiger!

How are you ? I just wanted to tell you that this easy 20 now program is exploding .. Because it’s only *$20 to get involved, thousands of people around the world are getting in and profiting big time with little effort. http://www.easy20now.biz/da What I wanted to do was give you a little marketing tip of how to make lots of *$20 sales when you join EZ20Now. I am making *$100 or so each email ad I send out using fre.e sources included with the package. Now think about 10 emails ads *$1000 , 20 emails ads *$2000 … see the potential now? ===================== Marketing Lesson # 1 ===================== Remember, all you need to do to generate sales at your EZ 20 Now website, is drive a constant flow of tar.geted tra.ffic to your website. Inside the members area there is a HUGE resource of different places where you can go and place ads for F.REE. So if you can spend maybe 1-2 hours placing the pre-written ads that they give you, in the places they show you, then you can start to receive hundreds of *$20 payments sent directly to you . It’s literally as easy as that. So if you’re ready to start getting bombarded with *$20 payments then urgently go here: http://www.easy20now.biz/da regards Depayne

Hi Marc,
My message would be 10 /10 for trying! You have made a few videos and they are pretty good! It’s gonna take time to get to the stage that the ‘big bloggers’ are at, and some of the other guys comments are right… this is a difficult niche to earn money from. But, its not impossible.
You will make some great friends and contacts by being in this niche, and from there you will build some great business relationships and move into other areas.
Everyone has to start somewhere and I think you are doing a great job, so keep up the good work and good luck with the blog!

Hey Marc,
Good luck with the site. My partner and I purchased BloggingExperiment.com a few weeks ago and I heard similar kind of nonsense from naysayers and critics.
My advice, continue delivering extremely valuable content and capitalize on the negative publicity and the site will take off.
Looking forward to seeing how you progress…We’re in the same situation right now : -)
