New Man - Same Goal (Video Post)

Hello onemansgoal readers. My name is Marc Galeazzi and on the 4th of April I purchased this blog from Bryan. The transaction went very smooth, with the exception of pictures on old posts not loading. I will be fixing the old posts over the next couple of weeks. I’ve very excited about this purchase and where this blog is heading in the future.

All of my posts will be made in video. I’m not a very strong writer and I personally enjoy taking in information through video better than reading. Here is the first video post of many to come. Stay tuned.

The article that started it all for me here

My lame content site that makes me money every month with no work here.

    Bryan sold this blog again?

Where is Bryan up to these days? I was his reader since day one of this blog.

Just two suggestion about your video.

    1. Please speak slowly.
    2. Please don’t move around when you talk.

Try to make yourself look more like a profession speaker.

    That’s for now!

Good luck to you Marc. I will stick around here for a while, if you keep surprising me. :-)

    Marc,

I have to say that this was a bit unexpected but welcome, it sounds like you have some great new ideas for the site. I think the videos will be a refreshing new content type for a make money blog. Also, I’m digging your whole case study approach to this. I feel like it’s much more interesting to hear about someone trying an experiment and then getting to see the results whether they are good or bad. This is similar to one of my favorite posts by Bryan:

Anyways, I look forward to the new content. Take it easy bro.

Terence, yes Bryan has sold this blog again. I’m not sure what exactly he is up to but I’m sure it will be good and I’m excited to see. While I’m not sure the details, rest assured that he hasn’t dropped out of the game. He is working on a project with Ben Cook of BloggingExperiment (who also sold his blog). We will have to wait and see. Thank you for reading this blog today and it’s cool you have been reading this blog from the beginning. I have big shoes to fill but all I care about is doing my best. I know I talked fast and moved. I will work on this. I was just nervous and sitting on a swivel chair. Thanks for the advice

Matt, thank you for your comment it will help me with a boost of confidence. I’m 100 percent with you on this; case studies will be new and cool. It’s fun to read about the top bloggers making tons of money but how are they doing it. Actions speak louder than words. Later, have a great day.

Yeah, I think you paid a little too much for this site…

Honestly, blogging / make money online / internet marketing / SEO is not as easy as all the dumb ebooks online make it seem.

And the fact you had no Wordpress experience or blogging experience before the purchase is scary. Writing a post is simple, but there is a lot more to it. I think walking into a PR4 blog and spending 10k, without even knowing how to video blog before you do it, is shooting yourself in the foot.

I hope I’m wrong. I wish you luck. Maybe you’ll prove everyone over at bloggerunleashed wrong.

    Hi Marc,

First when I heard this I was laughing out loud and saying what an idiot. Don’t worry, plenty of others did that too.

But then I had to stop and say I’m sorry you were had, which clearly you were. I do however wish you all the best and hope for your own sake, that you can prove us all wrong.

One thing I can recommend though: don’t listen to “just” the A-listers, take everything you hear with a grain (or two) of salt and follow up on that link above.

You won’t regret it. Take care and best wishes

You need to seriously reconsider what you’ve just done. Spending $10k on a site in hopes of making it a learning experience is downright stupid. Most internet marketing newbies learn by burning $200, $300, $500 tops - but $10k - you must be out of your fu$king mind. I’ll make this easy for you - contact Bryan and tell him you’ve had a change of heart. Let him keep $1-$2k and walk with the rest. Then head over to a real internet marketing blog (ie. Blogger Unleashed) and learn the REAL ins and outs of making money online.

I sincerely hope you can dig yourself out of this situation and hope the next time you won’t jump head first into something you have no fu@king clue about.

I’m not an MMO blogger, but I just feel sorry for you, kid. Jumped in the pan before spraying with Pam is all I can say. Hope you’ve swam with sharks before on your little sports excursions because you’ll need to draw on that experience if you have. Check out the links above, they are really your only hope now short of a refund.

Hate to sound so negative, but I’m hoping you can show Bryan you’re really not the sucker he was hoping for by listening to other excellent advice from people who would like to see you succeed instead of watching a shark like Bryan laugh all the way to the bank. Dude, seriously, a beginner with wordpress? Just wow.

Best of luck to you sincerely.

Hello Marc, this business in not easy and you are about to find that out. There is a part of me that would like to think you have the moxie to pull it off , but another part of me that makes me wonder how some people sleep at night. All of us have had to pay some “tuition” in some form to learn, but wow . You seem sincere in your desire to make a go of it. I wish you all the best. There is one thing I would like you to consider. there are people out there to follow and there are those out there to avoid , make that your first priority in establishing your new online venture. This wont cost you a dime and it will go a long way towards helping your future. And for heavens sake if someone want you to pay for that, just say no.

    dude,

I don’t wanna pile on what has already been said here but if you’re trying to make money with this here blog, then the sad fact is you won’t be successful.

At least no the way it is.

I’ll tell you how to make money online.

Make your fortune via real estate (you must have a knack for it to get the 10k) and then use this blog to advice people on how to do it.

Post your real estate checks on here and show people the money. You won’t believe how popular your blog will become once you start doing that.

Give people real estate advice. By so doing, you will inadvertently be SEOing this blog for the real estate niche - which is very profitable both online and offline.

In a couple years, and only in a couple of years, will you start making money with this blog - when real estate companies and agents come flocking to you.

But the way it is now, your chances of making money with “experimental video posts” are absolutely zilch.

dude WTF??? don’t waste this money. if you can’t do that, get your money back from Brian and take a vacation or something.

OUCH! This will be a very expensive education for you, my friend.

    Hi Marc,

Although I can’t help but agree that 10k was far too much for this site, I give you props for taking on this venture. I have read maybe 2 posts in this blog in the past but hearing what you have planned has made me an RSS subscriber. I, too, am still fresh in this market and can hopefully learn from your ‘experiments’ and ‘projects’. And like you, I also like to read a lot so give me an email if you ever fall short of your top 10 weekly posts. Best of luck to you.

I like how all of these idiots from blogger unleashed are quick to point a finger at this “kid” (who happens to be a year younger than the man himself - Bryan) for investing in a site. 10k was a bargain price for a blog of this caliber. I’ve been a regular reader since just about the beginning, and nothing has ever led me, or anyone besides Vic and his mindless moron army to believe that Bryan did anything unethical.

Bryan has always been there to lend me a helping hand Marc. Take it from the people that actually read this blog, rather than the ones that come here from Blogger Unleashed to spread the message of their demi-God Vic, Bryan is golden. You can learn a lot from him, and he’s always there when you need him. Who would you rather have on your side, Vic, who can’t say anything nice about anyone unless they suck up to him first, or Bryan?

I think you got a steal at 10k, and I know for a fact that Bryan got several bids after yours but he still honored your agreement. I know this because, I was one of those bidders that offered more for the site, yet Bryan wouldn’t take it because he had already reached an agreement with you, even though you hadn’t paid yet.

Long story short Marc. Keep doing what you do, and I think you’ll do wonderfully. You are going to have a rough 6 months or so, and the traffic and income from this blog will plummet (historically speaking), but in the end, it’s really up to you to see whether 10k was a smart buy or not. Good luck buddy!

  26. By Blogging Cash on Apr 12, 2008 | Reply

Well said Jason. I really think Bryan is a good guy, and it’s amazing what he’s done in under a year to make a mark for himself online. He’s an inspiration to the rest of us that are still plugging away.

It should also be mentioned that the only reason Vic has such a big following is because most of them have exhausted all other options to make money online, and think he is the answer. I have one question for BU readers, how much money has Vic made you?

  27. By Nick on Apr 12, 2008 | Reply

I think your good dude. I liked the video, and I got excited about the site again. OMG kind of lost me for a while after Bryan disappeared, but you got charisma, your excited, and I think your plans for teh site are wonderful. If you got back the archives Vic has had a bone to pick with Bryan for a long time. he’s an idiot, and I also know for a fact that Bryan got offered much more money after after fact but he stuck with you, so you didn’t get took. You’ll be fine, if you do what you said, you’ll make your money back. Bryan had quite a loyal following here, and if you keep doing what your saying you are going to do, you’ll make your money back several time.

  28. By Nick on Apr 12, 2008 | Reply

Further more, you brought the heart of the site back. The site is about people starting off with a goal, and documenting their journey. the site got a way from that for a while once Bryan started being ultra-successful in his blog flipping, and there’s nothign wrong with that, but he just outgrew the site. I’m excited man. If you let these idiots discourage you, your an idiotbecause right now your golden. Austin failed because he never put his thumb on the pulse, he showed up telling us he was this big online mogel and never proved, then when he revealed his sites, they were a joke. Your legit kid, you got it, I can tell.

    @Blogging Cash

“the only reason Vic has such a big following is because most of them have exhausted all other options to make money online, and think he is the answer.”

You mean to say, the BU crew has been in it longer, and been scammed more than anyone else? I know for one I have followed the “a listers”, I’ve followed some internet marketing “gurus” , all have lost me money. Vic is the only one I know that has me info that has turned a profit.

More on topic to this post however:

    Marc,

It’s an interesting choice of $10,000. Is it the right one? We’ll, you’re fighting an uphill battle. A number of other blogs have been purchased, and historically have gone downhill.

However, that’s not to say the $10k is a total waste. It’s what you do with what you have (however, I would be with less than half the money and 3 months, you could accomplish what this blog has achieved. Look at a blog like winningtheweb.com which has gained over 800 readers in just a few short months), but just because you have readers today, doesn’t mean they’re going to be here tomorrow.

I suggest you learn quick, and you set clear goals, and do everything in your power to accomplish them. Otherwise this project is going to be a very tough, uphill battle.

    Good luck sir!

    - Tevin

    Mark,

The first thing you will have to do is weed out the people who know how to make money online from those that don’t and the second thing is to weed out those that just make money for themselves from those that actually provide solid information for others to use to make money - without charging people for it.

You will no doubt feel a bit perturbed at the onslaught of people (myself included) who feel you have made a mistake in paying so much for this site. You may also feel indebted to the few cheerleaders above who think Bryan Clark is just dandy.

You can begin your online learning curve right now.

Jason Maxx - follow his link - it’s a re-direct to a one page sales letter on a site that he doesn’t own. He just spammed your site with an affiliate link.

Blogging Cash - This person just spammed you with a link to his sales page attempting to sell his domain which has zero PR or Alexa and no backlinks. The domain is worthless.

Nick - This link points you to a nice looking sports blog that does have decent Pr and a small amount of Alexa traffic. Nick does know how to build a nice site but is not ranking in the serp’s for his keywords and doesn’t get much organic traffic. His site also doesn’t make any money but he may not be trying too.

And who am I to give advice? If you run a Google search for any and all of the “Make Money Online” keywords - “Make Money Online” - “How to make money online” - “How to Make Money” - “Make Money” - “Making Money Online” etc you will find me listed on page 1. I get 1000’s of visitors to my site daily - for free and I give out information to my readers - for free - and I don’t sell anything to them. I make money from Adsense due to the volume of traffic I get. I also did this using a free blog that costs me nothing to buy or operate. You didn’t need to spend any money at all to succeed with a blog.

You will find that Vic and the crowd at Blogger Unleashed will offer to help you in your business and they won’t take your money in the process. A couple of the cheerleaders above will not help you at all and have already used your site to spam their own agenda.

Do yourself a favor - visit BU - read the posts - watch the Videos and learn about how to turn this blog into a site that can make you money. As it stands right now you will find that this blog has no income and it will not make money by trying to increase your readers. The fact is that readers are just other bloggers and they don’t spend money on other blogs nor do they click ads. You need search traffic to convert visitors into money and you need to learn SEO in order to gain search traffic. Btw… Twitter is social traffic - more bloggers - and you will not make money chasing social traffic. You’ll make lot’s of friends but they won’t spend money.

If nothing else, learn who is offering to help others out online and avoid the gurus who do little more than convince you to sign up for yet another worthless affiliate program which makes them money but not you.

    All the best Mark.

Look, I don’t know if this was a marketing ploy or if this is legit, but look at all the publicity you are getting.

While 10k is really expensive to pay for a MMO blog, you wouldn’t have gotten this furor without the high price tag.

This is a spectacle in itself and I got here because of the news.

So who knows, you might be able to pull this one out yet if you can sustain this… momentum and somehow figure out a way to monetize social traffic.

I’m all for seeing the new owner succeed. I would like to see him get the help he needs to be a success. However, I’m not surprised by the flak being dished out by the One Man’s Goal readership. Usually, when a person’s beliefs are shown to be untrue they chose to believe in them more instead of moving away from them.

From what I understand, this domain has been sold a couple times recently for amounts in excess of $5,000. People new to blogging and making money online in general need to learn to do a proper valuation before they lay down that kind of money. This blog has nothing that a brand new blog couldn’t build in a matter of a few months. And the new blog wouldn’t cost near a tenth what has been paid for this.

A blog isn’t a typical brick and mortar business. It’s more like buying a service-oriented business, like a medical practice or salon. The existing clientele (or readers, here) can’t be bought. The new owner has to prove themselves all over again. Often, offline service-oriented businesses are sold with the full understanding that they may lose up to 50% of their clients in the transition. A large number of them fold faster and harder than someone who had the brass balls to build fresh.

This went longer than I meant it to, so I’ll finish with this. You paid too much for too little, and you’ll learn that eventually.

    Best of luck to you.

Marc, you’ve got a good spirit and a positive attitude, which I think is great. I can definitely tell you that Grizz & Vic know what they’re talking about, so you would do yourself good to listen to them. It’s tough medicine, but it’ll get the job done. Me, I’m not a big shot in any capacity, but I do believe in only listening to people who have the proof in the pudding. Grizzly ranks on page 1 for all kinds of “make money” terms, and you can’t fake that. There’s a lot of dishonest, stupid and unscrupulous people in the blogosphere who really don’t give a rat’s booty about you, but Griz & Vic are not in that crowd. Check out Vic’s post “Challenge to Get Mad”–it’ll change your perspective of the man. Don’t listen to the spammers–always check the results. Blessings to you, bro.

    Marc,

Since you have a good understanding of real estate, I suggest you take a cue from the investor’s playbook and immediately flip this blog to Jason Maxx since he is willing to pay more for it than you did.

Then reinvest your profit into a blog you build yourself from scratch. Target any niche in real estate that you have experience in and brand yourself. It will be far more profitable for you.

I really wish you the best of luck.

Well, whats left to be said here?

So what if you paid over the odds for this blog! The bottom line is that this is a good blog, one hell of a project for a new blogger, but a good established blog all the same. As Mariam points out you have certainly got a good deal of interest already just for having the balls to take on such a project.

My advice to you is ignore all the negativity - Bryan is a stand up guy and as my post http://theaffiliatepost.com/affiliatemarketing/onemansgoalcom-for-sale points out, you probably did pay too much but you have got yourself an established blog with some great content in return. It is going to be a steep learning curve for you but I am sure if you are serious you will be able to get a good ROI over time.

Everyone has to start somewhere……. Good luck to you!

I sincerely hope you take the time to read Grizz’s, Vic’s and Court’s blog. They have made me money and I have never bought one thing from them. Ask them one thing you have a question about. If they can’t direct you to one of their posts or if they can’t create a post that answers any question you may have, then by all means blow them off.

However, please don’t be quick to dismiss them. It’s rare to find people such as Grizz, Vic and Court who freely share knowledge that can make you money on pure organic traffic.. What ever your choice good luck on your new endeavour.
