Need Ideas For Your Niche Blog? Here’s One Example
By Bryan Clark on Jan 21, 2008 in Make Money Online
When I first started my internet journey, it wasn’t as a blogger. My first attempt to make money online included selling clothing and electronics on eBay (two hot markets). My attempts were largely unsuccessful due to my limited knowledge of how to sell on eBay, but I wanted to dish out one of my sources for any of you that are looking for a niche topic to create your niche blogs.
eBay is a great topic for a niche blog, but an even better option would be a blog related to a product specific part of eBay. These terms would be super easy to rank for in Google.
“selling clothing on eBay” - 323,000 Results
“selling clothes on eBay” - 532,000 Results
As you can see, both of these terms would be pretty easy to rank for. Both have less than a million results, and are searched for quite frequently.
Just to give you access to every facet of this market, I want to provide you with a clothing wholesaler that I used when I sold on eBay. To sell clothing wholesale, you need a reputable company to do business with, and those can be hard to find. The thing I like about this place is the relatively small amounts of clothing you have to buy. Some places want you to buy pallets, or truckloads in order to get going, and that just wasn’t in my budget starting out.
Just to further monetize your niche blog, why not be the middleman for a company like this and tack on an extra 10%? So here are the keys to success in this niche…
- Rank well for your keywords by writing keyword dense articles, and using your keywords in title and h1 tags.
- Optimize your Adsense to display relevant eBay related ads.
- Find other monetization strategies such as the one I just mentioned, and a few affiliate programs.
- Set & Forget. Come back to update once or twice monthly, and move on to your next niche blog.

Hi—Bryan:
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what are H1 tags? I’ve seen this term before, and im not sure i know what it is.
Can you elaborate abit on this.

Just a quick question. What sort of affiliate programs would you suggest for my particular blog?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Missy, using H1 tags for important words/phrases is a key on-page SEO approach which basically lets search engines know that the highlighted terms are more important.

Richard - I would have a look at some of the programs on CommissionJunction.Com - they’ll have some things that fit.

I used to sell jewellery on ebay and did very well. But then the company decided that they didn’t want their stuff being sold there. It’s quite upsetting for me because I was earning really good money and not doing very much for it.
A lot easier than blogging that’s for sure!

Bryan:
So for headings in my WP blogs, im to add those tags in between the heading? Is this correct?

That should be an h1 on most blogs. If it’s not, you can add the tags. Or you can add them anywhere within your blog posts. If you are doing a list, you can use the h1 for headings to the list.
Also, a quick tip (in case you didn’t know). You don’t have to type out the h1 tag. In Wordpress you can use the keyboard shortcut ctrl + alt + v to open up a set of shortcuts in the “write post” section. It should give you options to change text size, color, etc. Just make sure you highlight the text before you change the size. Otherwise your entire post size will change rather than just the section you want.

The way google rates blogs nowadays, i think that if you leave a blog for a month, your rankings will go down especially if there is other competing sites that’s being updated.
Perhaps a better strategy is to update the blogs by making just a little bit of changes to keep the content fresh.
