Slow Down With The PageRank Hype

Many of you have probably heard that Google did a PageRank update… don’t get too excited! You see, after scouring countless blogs, forums, and emails from my readers - Google hasn’t completed the PageRank update yet.

Whatever is going on is either a glitch, or it’s a PageRank update in progress. It is not, I repeat- IS NOT - finished.

Most sites that have received a PageRank update quickly had it removed by Google. Some blogs reported a PageRank increase of 2-3 points, and then had it back to normal by the next day. The datacenters seem to be acting somewhat normal (although some of them are down, which could be an indicator), and in general, most blogs HAVE NOT seen a PageRank update.

This leads me to believe that we are about to get a PageRank update, but Google has not yet completed the PageRank update process. But keep looking, it could happen any time now.

It is so funny to see people freak over page rank during an update. Give me a break. Keep working and stay focused.

Google should run for president as a write in candidate, all they’d have to do is promise page rank updates and they’d have the geek vote locked up

It’s definitely happening. It just isn’t complete yet. I see too many blogs (when making my rounds) complain that they got skipped over for an update.

1.) It’s not over. You still may be updated.
2.) Count your blessings that you didn’t lose a point or two of pagerank!

I have noticed page rank changes for my websites already.

Bryan, I’m with you man, as long as it doesn’t go down, I don’t care. It is certainly happening though, Washing Post went up from a five to an eight. It kind of takes away some of my pride, because I was/am a four, and they were a point higher…

I now focus on other things, since Google took away the PR from my blog. I am marching on and i dont care.

I love my blog and will continue to develop it regardless of my PR number. My blog doesnt get nearly the reach of a big one, so i dont know why Google would penalize me, but im not sweating it.

I love my blog. (its my baby)

Some of the ranks on my blogs have changed, and it does appear to be staying that way, which is great for me! However, I don’t think they’re done, and it could change anytime. Will be updating if it does.

Jeez, seems like hardly any time since the last update. At least things seem to be getting back to a normal every 3 months update.

I just checked my site and it looks like I’ve been bumped from 3 to 4 on the main page. I don’t care too much, but it has been bugging me that for the past 3 months or so I’ve had individual pages at higher PR than the main one…

I do believe that although ranking is scaled on 1 - 10, there are (.1,.2,.3,.4,.5,etc…) positions along the way. So, if last update you achieved a PR3. Perhaps this update, your site is currently at 3.8.

I thought I saw this decimal representation somewhere before, but unfortunately I can’t remember where it was - or else I’d provide it.

I just hope this is the start of more frequent PR updates by google. I’m sick of waiting 8 months like there was before the fall update.
