Get Free Advertising At One Man’s Goal

Free Advertising!
I’ve decided to try something that I’m pretty excited about, and I don’t really think that it has been done before.
Before I tell you about it, I should probably explain why there isn’t a weekly update. Weekly updates are a big hassle and they are extremely top heavy. What I mean by that is - once the first week of the month is over (when advertisers renew) it doesn’t look like I make much. It’s best if I share with you my income on a monthly basis. It’s easier to devour all of the statistics then. So monthly updates only from now on.
So what am I excited about? It’s a promotion that I am going to experiment with. It work like this - you do a review of One Man’s Goal on your blog and you get free advertising on mine! I know, I know… it’s been done. However, I think my way of doing it might be completely new (more on that in a second). The review doesn’t have to be long. It really doesn’t even have to be a review. It just has to mention One Man’s Goal and provide a link (a followable link) to this site. The better the review, the longer your ads stay up (all mentions are guaranteed to stay up for 10 posts). All it really has to be is a paragraph that points people in the direction of this page.
How is it going to work? Well I’m going to post 10 icons at the bottom of every post (complete with a followable link). If you review One Man’s Goal, then send me an image and I’ll give you a 40×40 icon on the bottom of my posts. The icon is GUARANTEED to stay up for at least 10 posts (it might be longer if it’s a thorough review… hint). I will never add more than 10 icons to a single post, so that you can get as much exposure as possible.
Here is an example of how the icon advertising will work. Click away… it’s fully functional!

So if I do a review I get advertising? That is not really free is it? You are not charging money for it but it still has a price. Free would be I send you a pic and you put it up with no expectation of anything in return.
Just a little rant because I get tired of people offering “free” things when they are not really free.

LGR - Nobody is forcing you to do anything. And it is free. I’m not charging a dime. If you feel that I’m doing such a terrible thing… don’t take part. I don’t see how it’s so terrible offering people a chance at some exposure on a blog that generates 30k+ pageviews a month. Call me naive.

Those of you that WOULD like to take part in this… Just send me a 40×40 image, and a link to the post that you wrote. Send it to admin (at) onemansgoal.com
I’ll get your icon up ASAP.

Oh that’s a good idea! I just wrote about your site on mine - http://www.savvyskin.com - http://www.savvyskin.com/savvy-skin-at-blog-world-expo . Even though my site isn’t about blogging, hopefully all of my beauty blogger friends will realize they can benefit from your site.

Don’t get pissed. That was not the point. The point is there is a price, just not a monetary one therefore it is not really “free”.
One definition of free is: “given without consideration of a return or reward”.
I am not saying it is not a good idea, just saying that your headline says it is free while clearly it is not reviews take time and thus there is a cost.

LGR - First of all… I’m not “pissed”. I was just stating my opinion about your comment. Secondly, I said very clearly that it could be a paragraph that mentions One Man’s Goal and then links to the site. It COULD take roughly about the same amount of time that writing this comment took. If I was looking for exposure… there would be nothing stopping me.

Bryan, I’m guessing there is no coincidence between the great icon you just posted of me and the review I did of you not too long ago!
For the critics out there, I’d suggest that you can learn a lot by choosing a blog that fits your niche adn style and examing it to see how it became successful. That’s exactly what I did with Bryan’s blog about a month ago, with no expectation of anything in return. (But certainly the links back are appreciated!)
So yes, while writing a review might take time, you might benefit from it as well (aside from the link from Bryan’s site).

Suzanne - It might have had a little to do with it!

This is a very good idea. I have some questions though: what if more than 10 people take part in it? How will you decide who will have their icons displayed (or not) on your posts? Do you use any sort of “rotation” or “random display” script? What if someone would like to have his/her icon displayed in more than 10 posts? Should s/he write another review in this case?
I’m very interested in your offer. I’ll be waiting for your answers.

There will be a rotation
